Swimming Pool Support Fund available to help with Energy Saving Investment

Plastica know only too well the energy and money saving benefits of fitting a commercial heat retention swimming pool cover, therefore wanted to draw your attention to this opportunity. Sport England is administering the government’s £60 million fund for local authorities in England as a support package for public swimming pools, split into two phases.

• Phase I – Revenue: £20m is available to support facilities with swimming pools with increased cost pressures, leaving them most vulnerable to closure or significant service reduction.
• Phase II – Capital: £40m will also be made available by the government for capital investment to improve the energy efficiency of public facilities with pools in the medium to long term.

The Phase II capital funding could be financial help with the cost of buying a Plastica commercial cover and reel system which would make your swimming pool more energy efficient.

When SPSF Phase II – Capital opens on 4 September 2023, Local Authorities will be asked to register and detail the specific facilities they wish to apply for. At this point you will receive the relevant application forms. Sport England will also update their webpage with more detailed and final guidance and advice, as well as a list of frequently asked questions.

Local Authorities will have six weeks until noon on Tuesday 17 October 2023 to submit their application.

There will be two webinars held to walk through the application form and process. They take place between 1-2pm on Tuesday 12 and Friday 15 September. The information shared will be the same on both dates.
